KATAS
It is customary in Tibet to offer a Kata to a Lama as a symbol of devotion, or in order to receive the Lama’s blessing. Traditionally, after the Lama blesses the offered kata, it is returned to the bearer by placing the kata around the bearer’s bowed neck. The offering of the kata symbolizes respect and good intentions and a Kata is also presented to loved ones as a greeting or to wish them a good journey.
