BLESSED ITEMS
This statue of Buddha Shakyamuni is handmade by a Nepalese artist in Patan, Nepal.
Materials: Copper coated with gold and 24 carat gold painted on the face
The most common and popular mudra which is found depicted in Buddha statues is the Earth touching/witness Buddha or the Bhumisparsha mudra, which symbolizes the moment when Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. By touching the earth, Buddha was calling the earth as the witness to the event. The mudra also depicts the Buddha’s firm belief and effort while pursing the path of enlightenment. In Buddhism, it is believed that the Bhumisparsha mudra helps us to bring about the transformations from rage and anger to wisdom.
The statue comes together with an already prepared and consecrated complete set of Mantra rolls. We recommend that you request a Lama or a monk to fill the statue with these Mantra rolls with a consecration ritual.
In case this is not possible and you are doing it yourself, please find here the instructions on how to do it:
• Open the base of the statue
• Wipe the inside of the statue with saffron water and let it dry
• Purify the interior by burning an incense stick
• Insert the mantra rolls at the appropriate locations as labelled and close the base
Important instructions:
• Avoid touching the gold painted face.
• You may use a soft cloth to gently wipe the dust of the statue’s body.
• Avoid placing the statue on the floor or anywhere on ground level.
• We recommend you place your statue on your alter, in case you have one. If not, we recommend you place it on a table or a shelf which is at least 90 centimeters above the ground.
